Candidate Movie Recuts

The anti-Hillary Clinton movie re-cut, which placed her at the center of Apple’s old “1984” ad, was the first in a series of YouTube videos that will be used in the election cycle. The clip was inexpensive, underhanded and completely effective.

Instead of waiting to be on the receiving end of such cinematic editorializing like Senator Clinton, the presidential candidates should think ahead and re-cut themselves into this summer’s big movies, so they can project a positive, controllable image. It will attract young voters and make the candidates seem clued in to pop culture. Besides, it’s just GOT to work better than the old mackinaw-and-shotgun scenario in hunting season.

Barack Obama: “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”

To be seen as the savior of the Dem party and the country, why not audaciously cut himself into the role of the intergalactic savior of the earth? It’s already been pointed out he’s very articulate, so the only question is how he’ll look naked and chromed.

Rudy Giuliani: “Hairspray”

No other candidate would look so good in drag. Even Hillary.

Hillary Clinton: “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”

Casting herself as Harry would show that wonkiness and hard work can allow someone to fulfill her destiny. Also, she’ll look a lot less bitchy next to Voldemort.

Mitt Romney: “Transformers”

Hard-wired convictions can—k-chack, tak-tak, whirr, k-CHUNK!—change and adapt to meet any threat to his candidacy.

John McCain: “Live Free or Die Hard”

What this country needs is a fighter who’ll do what it takes, no matter how over-the-hill or bankrupt he is.

John Edwards: “Care Bears: Oopsy Does it”

Edwards needs to toughen up his image. Besides, “Hairspray” was already taken.
